Another sub-Onion satirical news site launches to a chorus of tumbleweeds

Unnoticed by everyone, an unknown chancer from the UK has risibly decided to take on spoof news behemoths The Onion and The Daily Mash by launching the satirical Digest Some News, which will inevitably be abbreviated to DSN over time.

The site, so amateur it uses a .wordpress.com domain, says it intends to provide a wry, sideways glance at the news – despite heavy competition from the aforementioned Onion and Daily Mash, in addition to literally tens of millions of Twitter users.

Launching Digest Some News during a champagne and canapés reception to a 12-strong audience of invitees at the Soho Hotel last night, editor Humphrey Pickleworth was optimistic the site would gradually pick up the loyal cult audience it clearly deserves over coming months.

“I’m pleased with the turnout. Obviously it would have been nice to get a few more bodies in here given the costs involved, but we took that risk when we decided to go up against a live televised Manchester United match.

“We’ll be spreading our net widely to appeal to every readership demographic imaginable: the coke-nostrilled art-renegade VICE crowd, morally righteous letter-writing ethniphobes and hemp-flavoured halloumi-chomping Guardianistas – to name but a few.”
